HOW IT STARTED

when i first moved to boston...

THERE WAS A HUGE SHIFT IN HOW I WANTED TO PRESENT MYSELF. IT STARTED WITH MY CAREER, MY FUTURE, MY PROFESSIONALISM.

It then went on to be about how I presented myself through the clothes I was wearing. When I was in college, I gravitated towards a mature and sophisticated style because of my experience in retail, but would oftentimes be influenced by trends that did not necessarily feel authentic to my personal style. It made me frustrated with my wardrobe because it felt as though it were split in half, my weekend clothes and my work week clothes. It threw a wrench in my personal style.  What I wore to the office was not fun enough to wear to after-work drinks with my friends.

I WANTED TO FIND A BALANCE.

I couldn't find what I wanted in one store.

In order to feel confident, I would commute home just to change my outfit, wasting time and money. I wanted to find a balance. I wanted to take my blazer off and have a top that was appropriate and sleek enough to wear on its own. Or a dress that could be worn dressed up at the office with heels, and made casual by bringing a pair of white sneakers to the office to pair with after work. It came down to ease of lifestyle and confidence being the two most important things in my mid-20’s lifestyle. So, when I decided to merge my closet, and find a balance between the two looks, I couldn’t find the store that provided it all in one place. One store was never enough for both my personal and professional clothes. If it was, it was way too expensive for me to afford or the latter - trendy and ecologically damaging. I was constantly purchasing from fast fashion brands to keep up with what I thought I wanted my personal style to be.

I REALIZED THERE WAS A NEED FOR CHANGE
